European arcade operator Gamestate has acquired the Circus Zandvoort arcade in Zandvoort, the Netherlands.

It will be the first Gamestate location to include a cinema, and at 2,000sq.m, will be the largest Gamestate in the Netherlands.
In the coming months, Gamestate will work on what the company calls “a vibrant and innovative concept to inspire both fans of classic games and newcomers” with a grand reopening planned for early summer.
Roel Veltmeijer, owner of Gamestate, said: “We actually had no more growth plans in the Netherlands, but we couldn't pass up this opportunity.
“It is a great honour to add Circus Zandvoort to our portfolio. The history of this place, combined with our passion for games and entertainment, offers a unique chance to create a new regional destination embracing both nostalgia and innovation.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors to an environment that truly offers the best of both worlds, and we are especially excited to now also include our first cinema in our offerings!”
"Just like with arcade halls, young people continue to find their way to the charm and coziness of a cinema despite all online streaming options.
"People love social activities, whether it's gaming with friends or watching a movie during a date with the smell of popcorn around you!"
