Free Play Dallas, located in the city's Trinity Groves leisure development, had its soft opening earlier this month. It joins four other Free Play arcades in Texas, with the first opening in Richmond eight years ago.

As well as arcade staples such as Pac-Man and Donkey Kong alongside new and classic pinball games, owner and founder Corey Hyden has equipped the venue with some of the rarer games for US venues and from across arcade gaming's history. These include Japanese manga and rhythm games and Sega's 1991 Time Traveler release, a holographic arcade game using rare parts.

According to the Dallas Obsever, Hyden hopes to hold a grand opening ceremony for the venue in the coming weeks.
