At least 27 people have died following a fire at an arcade in India.

The arcade, which is located in Rajkot, Gujarat, caught fire on the afternoon of May 25 while busy with customers.
Police commissioner Raju Bhargava said that a rescue operation was underway now that the fire had been brought under control. The Guardian reports that local fire office, Ilesh Kher, said that more than 300 people were in the building when the fire began and that it housed bowling go-kart and trampoline attractions.
Writing on social media network X, India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi, said that he was “extremely distressed by the fire” and offered his prayers for the injured.
