The last rites have been given to the ill-fated London Resort, the grandiose theme park planned as "the UK’s answer to Disneyland Paris."

The £3.5bn project has all but disappeared with the granting of an order to wind up the London Resort Company Holdings, the parent company of the project, which was to have been built on an old industrial estate on the Swanscombe Peninsula, near Dartford.
The project has limped from disaster to disaster over its 14-year existence, mostly legal actions with partners such as Paramount Pictures and environmental issues.
The resort was to have covered 535 acres of space and consist of two major parks and a variety of other attractions. The application to wind up the company was made by Paramount.
