The "jury is out" on whether e-tickets will replace paper tickets in redemption games in family entertainment centres, says Prakash Vivekanand, whose Amusement Services International (ASI) in Dubai is the principal distributor of games to the Middle East.

Tickets

In an upcoming article on redemption in InterGame, Vivekanand says that he believes that cashless payments will figure more strongly in redemption, but points out that in his region most FECs already operate on card systems, so a move to cashless would not be such a sharp change.

“The death of tickets? The jury is out," he says. "We have seen operators move to e-tickets and some persist with paper tickets. We cannot really measure the effectiveness of e-tickets because of the present situation and reduced capacities. From an environmental perspective, I would like to see paper tickets go and e-tickets come in, but I think the player likes to see tickets come out of the game as a celebration of the win.”
