Doubts are being cast over the EAG International Expo set for January 12-14 in 2021, with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announcing that the country’s Nightingale Hospitals – temporary facilities set up to deal with Covid-19 cases – will be kept open until March of next year.

The news affects the EAG show that is set for ExCeL, which is one of the temporary hospitals involved.

Swan Events’ Karen Cooke, who manages the show on behalf of trade association BACTA, said this morning: “I spoke with ExCeL last night and there was no mention of this. Until I get it officially, we won’t be looking at the situation.”

The UK Government is clearly concerned that there may be a second ‘spike’ in coronavirus infections.
