What would happen if there was a major chemical attack while thousands of people were inside a theme park? A test situation was run this week at Dreamland, Margate.

Emergency

The Kent park was used to test out the ability of the emergency services to react in a crisis. The simulated attack was a training exercise on Monday with over 200 professionals taking part in what they would do if the park was at a full capacity of 6,500 when an incident happens.

Mass decontamination processes were practised with the Kent Fire and Rescue Service building shower units and taking people through the process. The park was actually closed during the exercise which also involved the police and paramedics, all of whom were able to test their own state of readiness to respond.
