Legislation that would target "rigged" claw and crane machines has been introduced in the US state of New Jersey.
The legislation would make the regulation of games of chance the responsibility of the Legalised Games of Chance Control Commission, which would ensure that games included mechanical and programming specifications for the machines to ensure a player has a reasonable chance of obtaining a prize.
The commission would determine what constitutes reasonable odds based on similar regulations in other jurisdictions, industry standards and input from amusement game licensees and operators. Amusement games licensees or operators of a game would only be issued a certification of permissibility if the machine is in compliance with these standards.
