One of the UK's most respected medium-sized operators, Claremont Automatics, has taken the decision to withdraw from the supply of coin-op amusement machines in all the sectors it currently operates.

In a letter to customers, managing director Charles Butler said that the company, which was founded in 1966 and has offices in Oxfordshire and Leicestershire, said the move comes after “very careful consideration over a number of months.”
Butler paid tribute to the company’s “very able staff” and its customers. The aim is now to consult with the latter to “ensure a smooth transition over the coming months,” with a view to selling equipment to their nominated suppliers.
“There is a good mix of machines on site and performance is strong so to sell the sited equipment to the incoming supplier will maintain performance and minimise disruption to the sites,” he said.
However, Butler stressed that the company will “continue to trade in a related field,” with further news promised in the coming months.
