A day out at the cinema is growing in popularity with Saudis according to new figures.

The cinema sector in Saudi Arabia has grown by 28 per cent during the second quarter of 2023, reports The Saudi Gazette.
The news was revealed in the Ministry of Commerce's business sector bulletin, which stated that commercial records of film production had reached 1,700, compared to 1,300 in the same period in 2022.
Riyadh has the highest number of commercial records of film production with 953, followed by Mecca with 501, then Medina with 51.
Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia’s government-owned amusement industry subsidiary, Seven, bought the equity in the Saudi Cinema Company, which was held by AMC Entertainment Holdings, for US$30m.
