The famous Bath tourist attraction, the Roman Baths, has a circular bath, which the Romans used as a cold plunge pool. For many years this has been used for tourists to toss coins into and make a wish.

The local council went cashless with the venue and put up a sign next to the wishing well asking people to tap the contactless point instead of throwing coins into the water. Donations are now down from £104,000 to £19,000.
