Cartoon Network Enterprises has agreed franchise rights to an undisclosed amusement operator in Kuwait, which will see it build a fully branded family entertainment centre, according to InterGame sources.

Scheduled to open this year, the venture represents Cartoon Network’s first foray into branded amusement destinations within the region.

Commenting on the move into Kuwait Jeff Kupsky, president of Turner Broadcasting System Europe, said: "This is a timely and exciting deal which puts Turner at the heart of a thriving entertainment industry in the Middle East.

"The Kuwait City indoor theme park will enable visitors to sample the Cartoon Network experience on a grand scale, and truly interact with our characters and brands."

The development follows the successful implementation of the very first Cartoon Network FEC, in 2004, located in the Alto Palermo shopping centre, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
