Benchmark Games is retiring two of what it describes as its “evergreen” titles, Slam-A-Winner Std and Pop it for Gold Std.

Slam-A-Winner, which was first launched in October 2004, is Benchmark Games’ most successful title ever.
“After having old 5,200 machines it is time to pass the torch,” said Ron Halliburton, lead engineer. “The Monster Drop Single was designed specifically to be the next big game for the smaller venue, such as skate, pizza and bowling centres.”
Pop it for Gold has sold more than 2,000 copies worldwide since 2007. The game’s success led to the creation of two Xtreme balloon games that have proven successful in locations around the world.
“Pop it for Gold’s success,” said Al Kress, CEo of Benchmark, “was due to the players becoming fixated with the anticipation of the balloon popping.”
The company’s latest balloon game, the two-player Explosive, is currently shipping and delivering “very encouraging” income. It is now working on its next line-up of games.
“While it is sad to retire these two great titles, it is necessary to expand our business and elevate the game room profile for the many locations that use our products,” said Anthony Maniscalco, director of North American sales. “Our new line-up of products draws from our deep history of successful earners and will deliver the same excitement and compelling game play that make Benchmark games top earners.”
