BALPPA has become the latest organisation to back the Fixed Odds Betting Terminals All Party Parliamentary Group, the growing campaign for action on FOBTs.

BALPPA backs FOBT campaign

The FOTB APPG published a report calling for a reduction in the maximum amount that can be played on an FOBT to £2 last month.

With concern high among politicians, campaign groups and the gambling and gaming industry, the pressure for the government to take action in the forthcoming review of stakes and prizes is building.

The General Synod, the legislative body of the Church of England, today unanimously voted for a motion calling for a reduction in the maximum stake on an FOBT to £2.

In response, Carolyn Harris MP, chair of the FOBT APPG, said:  “The campaign for action on FOBTs just keeps on growing. The Church of England General Synod joins hundreds of MPs, 93 local authorities campaign groups and industry bodies in calling for stake reduction on FOBTs.

“The government must act in the forthcoming review of stakes and prizes to reduce the stake; it simply cannot be put off any longer. It is the only action to take for a government which takes social responsibility seriously. I am delighted to welcome BALPPA as an associate member of the FOBT APPG.”
