Plans to extend the arcade on Wellington Pier, Great Yarmouth, UK, have been recommended for approval by the resort’s planning officers.
The scheme, by Family Amusements, will effectively double the size of the arcade. The proposition went before the council’s development management committee yesterday.
This is despite some misgivings by other interested parties, including Historic England that noted that the extension would be "a large, utilitarian addition" to the seafront.
While it remains in opposition to the plan, Historic England has welcomed amendments to the original proposal. The land that will provide the space for the extension was formerly an outdoor roller-skating rink.
