The August 30 deadline is fast approaching for the implementation of the new rules on age verification for gaming machines in the UK.

From that date, operators must ensure that there are checks in place to ensure that no-one under 21 can play a gambling machine.

The rule, introduced by the Gambling Commission, only applies to betting, bingo and amusement arcades that encompass both AGCs and FECs. It does not apply to pubs or any other venue lioensed for alcohol.

Most AGCs already operate some system of age verification, challenging anyone who looks to possibly be less than 25 to ensure no under-age guests are missed.
