The partnership between the London-based firm, which supplies music content to over 12,000 Sound Leisure jukeboxes, and the Official Charts Company follows years of joint collaboration.

Simon Davis, managing director of Soundnet, said: “At Soundnet we have recognised the importance of the Official UK Chart since first offering its charts on our boxes back in 2006. This latest deal with the Official Charts Company is to ensure we emphasise the importance of the latest Official Singles Chart hits as 80 per cent of the tracks chosen by consumers are chart and new releases. The Official Charts Company is fully committed to expanding its reach of the chart – and this will only benefit our customers and the income in the jukeboxes.”

The Official Charts Company has repositioned itself as a more consumer-focused operation over the past 18 months, through the launch of a new brand icon, the consumer-facing pop portal OfficialCharts.com (which posted record traffic of over one million unique visitors last month) and the creation of an Official Number 1 Award, which has been presented to a range of chart-topping artists over the past year.

“The UK singles market set a new record in 2012 with 188.6 million singles sold,” said Giles Jones, head of commercial at the Official Charts Company. “We are delighted to renew and exclusively extend our agreement with Soundnet and significantly increase the reach of the Official Singles Chart to the consumer through this key partnership.”
