Work began officially on December 13 in Frankenmuth, known as Little Bavaria, for what will eventually become a 140,000sq.ft indoor water park and family entertainment resort, reports WNEM Saginaw.

The Bavarian Inn Lodge expansion will include over 20 attractions, including a range of water slides, swim-up bar for over 21s, wave pool and much more.

At the groundbreaking, tributes were paid to Judy Zehnder, who was instrumental in the development of the resort and sadly passed away earlier this year.

The mayor of Frankenmuth, Mary Anne Ackerman, was also present as work officially began, saying that it was "an exciting day for Little Bavaria."
