ACROSS the Middle East, particularly within countries in the Arabian Gulf, it is typical to find large family entertainment centres located inside retail and leisure hot-spots, such as shopping centres.

Dedicated venues are still very much common in European and Asian countries, but some US states are seeing an increase in these hybrid centres. The relatively harsh weather of the Middle East is often cited as a reason to put some entertainment centres inside ventilated shopping malls – but, of course, there are other motives, including the sheer convenience.
