My earliest recollection is of boarding a tram at the corner of Gloddaeth Avenue and Mostyn Street in Llandudno. It must have been about 1948 and I would have been aged five. A few years later I had my first meeting with a coin-operated game. It was a mechanical crane made by Bryan’s Works and it was in the Royal Arcade in Mostyn Street, now owned by HB Leisure. That was to trigger a lifetime love of games and gaming.

THE last time I was in a position where I had to write about myself was in June 1967 and it was a curriculum vitae that was to lead directly to entering the games and gaming industry. A CV is no more than a statement covering a succession of facts. This time it is infinitely more difficult.

How do you write about yourself without the discomfort that it could sound like self-aggrandisement, or worse, arrogant? After all, there is nothing that should be regarded as an achievement in staying within an industry for 50 years. It is simply a case of longevity.
