Donald Trump has called for 11 casinos to sue over the approved complete smoking ban in Atlantic City, US, arguing it creates a competitive disadvantage.

"I’m not a smoker, and I don’t personally like what smoking does to people," said Trump. "But this puts us at a huge disadvantage."

Many of Atlantic City’s most profitable and reliable customers shunned the city last April following a partial smoking ban, which restricted smoking to no more than 25 per cent of the casino floor.

Slot parlours in Philadelphia have also stolen many of the casinos customers as they are permitted to smoke while gambling.
