Vietnam’s Ho Tram Strip – the country’s largest ever tourism development – has opened with the unveiling of its first integrated casino resort, The Grand.

Opening its doors on July 26, the 541-room resort boasts 90 live tables and 614 electronic game positions, as well as a host of other entertainment and retail amenities. Work on a second tower at The Grand began in October and will add a further 559 rooms when completed.

Colin Pine, general director of the Ho Tram Project Company, the developer of the Strip, described the work carried out over the last few years as a “monumental effort” and said that the launch of the casino resort marked the beginning of a “new era of tourism” for the country.

The Grand represents the first integrated resort to open on the Ho Tram Strip and will be followed a second resort to be operated by Pinnacle Entertainment Group and three other five-star resorts. MGM Resorts International, which was to manage a casino resort as part of the project, pulled out of the scheme in March.

The Strip is located around 2.5 hours from Ho Chi Minh City.
