The introduction of casino gaming in Tanzania has created jobs and tax revenue for central government and local authorities and the industry is growing fast.

This was the message of Gaming Board of Tanzania director general Tarimba Abbas at a recent news conference in capital Dar-es-Salaam.
Abbas said casinos have been accounting for 10 per cent of the board’s net profit and annual dividends to the government will reach Tsh1bn in four years.
The board is also embarking on a study to provide guidelines to establish suitable regulatory guidance in regard to licensing of casinos and slot operations in the country.
