Brazil could become the world’s third largest gaming market generating between US$9bn and $17bn in gaming revenue annually, according to Spectrum Gaming.

That would place Brazil behind only the US and Macau.

Brazil could be a better ground for casino developers and investors than Japan given the country’s delay in implementing gaming, Spectrum’s report said.

The withdrawal of IGT and Scientific Games from the Lotex instant games operations opens up significant expansion opportunities for the states, and current operators can extend offerings, Spectrum added.

Efforts to expand gaming also are likely as governments seek additional sources of revenue slammed by Covid-19, Spectrum said.
