The Ministry of the Interior in Spain has issued the country's Annual Gaming Report, which shows that turnover in casinos, bingo and AWP machines rose by 7.01 per cent last year to €20.1bn.

Madrid remains the largest turnover among the 17 regions, followed by Catalunya, Valencia and Andalucia. The report said that there had been a 10.34 per cent fall in turnover in casinos, 7.83 per cent in bingo and a rise in 14.82 per cent in gaming machines. Only in Asturias, Extremadura and Melilla were there any increases in casino revenues. The largest fall was in Galicia, 21.17 per cent. In gaming machines Galicia reported the largest increase over 2007, 71.92 per cent.
