SJM Holdings has received official approval from the Macau government for its planned mega-resort on Cotai.

The project is the last of the six casino concessionaires’ planned resorts to get the go-ahead in the resort district. The go-ahead clears the way for the company to receive construction approval, a process that is likely to take a few months.

The site in question covers an area of 70,468sq.m. The company will pay the government a total of US$269m for the land. It has already paid US$98.1m for the land premium. SJM first filed its request in 2006.
