The UK's largest casino opened its doors for the first time last night when there was a VIP party at The Isle Casino at Coventry's Ricoh Arena, home of Coventry City FC, prior to the casino opening to the public in a few days' time.
The £36m venue covers 100,000sq.ft underneath the stadium. It has five bars, including a 20-screen, 30m sports bar, a live performance stage and three restaurants in a tropical-themed environment with a spectacular indoor waterfall.
The casino is the first overseas venture for US operator Isle of Capri Casinos and is being run by the experienced Chris Brammer, whose previous roles include general secretary of the European Gaming Organisation.
As well as roulette, blackjack and craps, there is a dedicated 12-table poker room hosting tournaments four times a week and training tables for novices. The live gaming tables were supplied by TCS John Huxley and there are 50 TouchBet Roulette terminals from Austrian Gaming Industries.
Among the guests last night were David Heap, Simon Witty, John Galajsza, Andrew Davis and Luke Spencer of TCS John Huxley, Jens Halle and Jens Einhaus of Austrian Gaming Industries and Annette Jauch of Atronic Systems.
