The government of Cambodia received over US$25m in revenue from the casino industry in 2014.

That was up 12 per cent on the previous year, according to reports in the media. Ros Phirun, director general of the Finance Ministry’s financial industry department, said the casinos are expected to generate about $26m in tax revenue this year.

He said there are currently 59 casinos operating in Cambodia, most along border areas. These casinos have contributed to developing the economies of those regions, he said.
