Resorts World has insisted it is “committed to doing business with the utmost integrity” after a complaint was filed against the company by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

As reported by the Associated Press, the board has asked the Nevada Gaming Commission to fine Resorts World and take action against its casino licence in Las Vegas.

The disciplinary complaint alleges that Resorts World Las Vegas allowed illegal bookmaking, individuals with links to organised crime and people with a history of gambling-related felony convictions.

The allegations chiefly relate to the practices of Matthew Bowyer, the Southern California bookmaker at the centre of the betting scandal involving baseball star Shohei Ohtani and his former interpreter.

Bowyer was also barred from Resorts World in October 2023 with prosecutors saying he ran an illegal gambling business for five years or more in Southern California and Las Vegas.

Twelve complaints against Resorts World made by the Nevada Gaming Control Board include failing to distance from illegal bookmakers.

“We are committed to doing business with the utmost integrity and in compliance with applicable laws and industry guidelines,” Resorts World said, via the Associated Press.
