There have been more than 50 fatalities and over 200 people injured following a mass shooting at a music festival taking place at the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Reports: shooting at Las Vegas casino

Police said the gunman shot into the concert crowd from a room at the Mandalay Hotel, which was across the boulevard on land immediately opposite the Luxor casino.

Streets around the location, as well as hotels and casinos, were closed after the incident, which happened in the early hours while flights into and out of McCarran International Airport, which is in close proximity, were cancelled.

Just after 8.30am BST (UK), the Las Vegas police department tweeted (@LVMPD) that one suspect “was down” and "at this time we do not believe there are any more shooters."

The incident comes as more than 20,000 casino and gaming professionals gather in Las Vegas for the G2E Global Gaming Expo, which is due to open tomorrow

At 1pm BST (UK) there was no news about possible implications for the G2E show, although it was still only 4am local time with much of The Strip still in lockdown including the big hotels - no-one can enter the area nor can they leave.

The organisers of G2E had put out no statements as of 12.30pm BST (UK) today to indicate alternative plans for people to access the show or reach their booked accommodation.
