Following a successful return to London, Playboy is to return to Manchester for a one-off event at London Clubs International's Manchester235 casino.
On October 1, the Playboy bunnies will once again make an appearance in the city after a 30-year hiatus. The original Manchester Playboy Club opened in 1972 but was closed a decade later when the company took a break from casinos.
Now, in light of its new partnership with LCI in London, the special event will see the bunnies take up residence at the Deansgate property.
"When Hugh Hefner opened the original UK Playboy Club’s they redefined class and luxury, setting a new nightlife standard around the world," a company spokesperson said. "Following our successful launch of Playboy Club London in June this year, the bunnies are returning to Manchester for a one-off event in October. We will be testing the water to see how the bunnies are received in Manchester and if our customers, VIPs and celebrities respond positively to the idea."
The news has been met with opposition from certain sections of the local media, with the Manchester Evening News suggesting that the casino will be permanently rebranded as a Playboy casino. However, a company source told InterGaming that this is "a little premature."
