The Puyallup Tribe plans to open a $370m casino in Tacoma in the US state of Washington in December 2019.

The 310,000sq.ft facility will house the Emerald Queen Casino, a 2,000-seat events centre, restaurants and bars. The tribe presented an update on the project to the Tacoma City Council on Tuesday.

The 110,000sq.ft casino will rival the size of other casinos in the state, the tribe said. The building, with its striking designs, art, lights and electronic messaging, will “create an Indian casino with the glitz of Las Vegas,” tribal chairman Bill Sterud said.
