The number of slot machines within Peru's gaming market could increase by as much as 70 per cent over the next few years, it has been claimed.

Jaime Varela Vidal, partner at Lima-based law firm Varela & Fonseca, said Peru’s market has been growing at a sustained rate of between six and seven per cent over the last five years. Thanks to a relatively stable regulatory environment, investors can feel secure that the market is functioning properly.

“In Peru today, we have over 70,000 slot machines and we hope that this number will increase to at least 120,000 slot machines in the next few years,” Vidal told InterGaming.

Proposed updates to the existing legal framework should also ensure a greater number of sportsbooks will open and online gaming will flourish, he added.
