Novomatic has concluded an agreement with French-based International Group of Gaming & Resorts and Sun International, the South African casino and resorts operator, to acquire a 40 per cent stake in Chilean entity San Francisco Investments, which holds a 15-year casino license in Region VI of Chile.

The deal is subject to the approval of the Chilean regulator, the Superintendencia de Casinos de Juego (SCJ).

Novomatic plans to be involved in the planned casino at San Francisco de Mostazal, south of Santiago, which will have 1,500 slots, 80 tables and 300 bingo positions.

Construction is expected to commence soon with the casino scheduled to open by mid-2008.

Chile has recently introduced a new gaming dispensation, and Novomatic considers it to be “a well regulated jurisdiction with a highly regarded legislative framework.”
