The GambleAware support service in New South Wales, Australia, is being expanded from January to include peer support.

The new tool will allow those looking for help with problem gambling to speak with those with lived experience.

The Australian Centre for Social Innovation, appointed by The Office of Responsible Gambling, has been tasked with building out the peer support service.

Alison Parkinson, director of The Office of Responsible Gambling, said: “This service will provide an additional option for people experiencing gambling harm, making sure that people across NSW can access support that meets their needs and circumstances.

“The service will work with GambleAware providers so they are ready and able to offer peer support from early 2024. This will include helping them to recruit and train peer support workers.”
