A new trade show and conference for the African market has been organised for November 24-26, 2015.

Gambling Indaba will be held at the Cape Town International Conference Centre, South Africa. It is being staged as a joint venture by Roy Bannister, principal of the South African trade publication Gaming for Africa, in partnership with Percy Kwinda, the founder and CEO of Gambling Indaba.

Considerable credibility is gained by the event from the fact that it has been endorsed by GRAF (Gambling Regulators Africa Forum) and by the fact that Kwinda is highly influential in South African gambling as a former head of department with the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board.

A partnership which has between them very considerable experience of the South African gambling scene has excellent chances of success in a region noted for failures in trade shows and conferences. Roy Bannister told InterGaming this week: “We all know the track record of African gambling trade shows and conferences, but with this partner I’m certain this will be a success.

"We have a considerable amount of backing already behind the scenes from politically connected figures, some high-profile speakers and have sold more than 25 per cent of the space already. There are some amazing opportunities for the industry here in Africa. I am convinced that it is going to be the region with the highest potential in a year or two.”

Bannister and Kwinda plan a three-day session combined with a trade show, covering casinos, internet, street market, horse racing, bingo, sports betting and allied industries. The conference will cover all of the sectors.

“We foresee that Gambling Indaba and Expo will become the premier forum for the legalised gambling industry in South Africa and the rest of the African continent,” said Bannister. “It will also be used as the platform for the announcement for PriceWaterhouseCooper’s African Gambling Outlook Report.

“The show will be a shop window for gaming manufacturers and suppliers to the gaming industry.”
