Plans for two casinos in the West Midlands have been attacked by a local MP.

Two of the 16 new casinos that have been given the go-ahead by the government are in Solihull and Wolverhampton. The latter plan is for a racino at Wolverhampton racecourse, while Solihull is hoping to build a casino at the National Exhibition Centre.

Wolverhampton’s casino would have up to 80 slot machines with a maximum payout of £4,000, while Solihull is planning a ‘large’ casino offering with 150 slots. However, MP Ken Purchase said: "In Wolverhampton, there is already ample opportunity for gambling."
