Mohegan Sun has a memorandum of understanding with the Incheon International Airport in South Korea to develop an integrated resort on the airport’s 800-acre campus.

In addition to a casino, plans include two hotel towers with a combined 1,000 rooms, private jet terminal, retail space with more than 60 luxury brands, 20 restaurant concepts, a Korean cosmetics and beauty hub and 20,000-seat entertainment arena.

Working with Mohegan Sun and Incheon Airport is multi-purpose investment vehicle Mirua Holdings Asia, which focuses on gaming and hotels in the US and Asia.

Mohegan Sun’s plans in Korea come amid a wave of developments in Asian casinos all aimed at attracting Chinese gamblers, many of whom are skipping Macau under China’s ever more restrictive policies there.

South Korea is home to several proposed casino projects, including more than $1bn of planned investments by Caesars, Genting and Bloomberry.

Incheon International, near Seoul, handles more than 45 million visitors a year.
