Malawi has seen a rapid acceleration in tourist numbers, reports magazine Gaming for Africa, and the government is encouraging the trade with many incentives, including casinos.

Capital Lilongwe already has a casino, the Marina, operated by Casino Marina Group since 2016. The venue offers both slots and tables at the Golden Peacock Hotel. Two further casinos have opened as a result of the Marina’s success.

The government recognises that there are potential for casino growth outside of the capital however and Blantyre has been indicated as a likely destination for more casinos, although it already has two, the Blue Elephant and the Colony Club.
