London Clubs International's latest UK casino, the £25m Alea, opened in Glasgow last week.
Scotland’s first luxury casino, dining and live music venue, it is set over two floors and features contemporary interiors creating two bars, restaurant, a live music room, coffee lounge, two floors of gaming and a private poker room. There are three terraces overlooking the river Clyde.
The casino has 20 gaming tables, including punto banco, blackjack, roulette and poker, as well state-of-the-art slot machines and electronic roulette machines.
Interior design was carried out by Yvonne Golds, design director of Real Studios, utilising Scottish art and designers to emphasise the sense of place, including stunning artworks by Glaswegian pop artist Ashley Cook, among others.
The highest quality food will be a feature of the Red Leaf restaurant, which has a kitchen run by Scots-born chef Jamie Walker, formerly of the Dorchester Hotel and Mosimann’s in London. Live entertainment is key to Alea’s offering, with an eclectic mix of DJs, live acts and Saturday night dinner dances.
Alea Glasgow is the fourth in the roll-out of LCI’s new concept casinos, aimed at young adults, women, tourists and business travellers, in addition to traditional gamers.
The venue will be managed by Paul Rety, who was previously general manager at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow. He said: “I’m confident that Alea Glasgow is going to be a huge boost for the city, offering Glaswegians an entirely new entertainment experience.”
Michael Silberling, LCI’s chief operating officer, said: “We’re very excited to be opening our first venue in Scotland. Alea Glasgow is a fantastic venue in a fantastic setting on the Clyde and we are committed to making it a major success.”
