The committee of Liberal Democratic Party members tasked with drafting enabling legislation for casinos in Japan could begin meeting as early as this month, the Japan Times reported.

Legislation will include the number and location parameters for casinos, tax rates and other policies related to money laundering prevention and problem gambling.

The bill to legalise casinos in Japan passed the Diet last month. All major casino operators are expected to pursue a licence in Japan, which is estimated to be as much as a $40bn market.
