ICE Totally Gaming, in its second year at ExCeL in London, was a tearaway success yet again.

Despite a potentially damaging London Underground strike, the visitors came through the doors in record numbers once again. The new show layout, using both sides of the expo centre, was generally well received. There were some exhibitors in the south section unhappy with footfall, however. “Welcome to Novomatic city” was the message on day one from the company’s Jens Halle.

The Austrian giant once again had by far the largest stand at ICE. “It has been a great year for us,” he added. “And 2014 looks like being even better. Here at the show we have lots of new product – and more new companies.”

He also referred to the addition of Formula 1 legend Niki Lauda as an ambassador for Novomatic. “He and our founder Johann Graf have been personal friends for a while, so it seemed like a logical step,” he said.

“We have passed quite a few milestones this year,” said communications director David Orrick. “Turnover increased to €3.3bn and 98 per cent of that figure came through exports. We now operate 230,000 machines and have subsidiaries in 35 different countries. In addition, we are very active in strengthening our position in the online and mobile gaming sphere. We have also acquired four companies in Lithuania.”
