Hong Kong's Chow Tai Fook Enterprises is considering investing in the $4bn Quang Nam casino project in central Vietnam, company director Henry Cheng said.
“We are interested,” Cheng said. “We are doing something now to secure this project.” He gave no further details. VinaCapital, an asset management firm focused on Vietnam, said in October that it was finalising talks with a foreign investor partner and expects to start construction soon on the long-delayed integrated resort.
The company is seeking a partner to replace Malaysia’s Genting, which pulled out in 2012. Earlier this year, the firm said US company Peninsula Pacific would be stepping in to fill the void. However, the report said it now appears likely that Peninsula has also withdrawn.
VinaCapital didn’t name the potential investment partner.
