The Hippodrome Casino in London’s Leicester Square has announced the appointment of George Constantinou as director of online operations in advance of the venue’s forthcoming partnership deal with pokerstars.com

Constantinou will also oversee the launch of the Hippodrome’s new online site hippodromecasino.com, built by Microgaming, to be followed later in the year by the reveal of a new pokerstars.com branded poker deck on the top floor of the casino. He will also be developing the Hippodrome’s affiliate network and exploring further partnerships and media relationships.
Constantinou began his online career with pokerroom.com, which then became the world’s third largest poker site, in charge of UK marketing and media affiliate deals. He was also business development director with skill gaming firm Serious Trivia, where he established partnerships with Fox, Football League, Bauer and MTV.
Said Constantinou: “Mine has to be the plum job in the online gaming world, with two of the industry’s biggest launches on the horizon.”
PokerStars, the worlds’ largest online poker site, will refurbish and rebrand the poker deck at the Hippodrome Casino to create the UK’s first PokerStars’ poker room. In 2013, the Hippodrome will become home to a range of new PokerStars’ sponsored tournaments and special events which the site will promote to its customer base of 50 million registered players. PokerStars has also taken a minority stakeholding in the Hippodrome Casino as part of the deal.
Microgaming will build www.hippodromecasino.com, which will be operated by Betway Group and introduce an unrivalled suite of games and mobile gaming applications. Online poker on the site will be provided by PokerStars.
