With speculation that Brazil may be about to re-open its gaming industry being fuelled recently by the news that the government is to consider new bingo legislation, a meeting between Gaming Laboratories International and the Diputados of the Congress, which took place at the end of March, is sure to give confidence to both potential suppliers and operators.
Speaking on behalf of GLI, senior director of engineering and client services, Ian Hughes, said: "We are not here today to advocate our express whether gaming should exist in Brazil. We are a global technology company that provides testing services and advises governments on how technology can be used to ensure regulatory objectives are met. We are neutral and independent."
Hughes outlined GLI’s testing capabilities, including mathematics, random number generators, communication technology, hardware and software architecture and security.
"Technology is key to protecting the interests of government and its citizens and through which almost anything is possible," he continued. "It is in the jurisdictional power to use the technical means and establish the necessary technical requirements for the gaming industry to comply, to be able to maintain, supervise and control activity."
