In an effort to help bring testing standards to Mexico, Gaming Laboratories International has established a business alliance with the not-for-profit Normalizacion y Certificacion Electronica.
There are an estimated 50,000 to 75,000 gaming devices in operation in Mexico, but there is currently no testing requirement for those devices.
Under the terms of the new agreement, GLI and NYCE will work together to develop testing standards in the Latin American country.
It is hoped that the alliance will create voluntary compliance to those standards and to encourage the Mexican government to adopt mandatory testing standards for gaming devices.
With a membership of 43 Mexican companies, NYCE verifies and certifies compliance of mandatory and non-mandatory Mexican standards for telecommunications, electronics and information technologies.
GLI said it will use its training services to assist NYCE in developing field inspection teams to perform critical audit and software verifications.
"The number of gaming devices in Mexico is significant, and it is critical to the future of gaming that those devices be tested and certified to ensure a fair game for everyone," said GLI president, James Maida.
