Genting is set to announce plans to develop a casino property at Bimini Bay Resort and Marina in the Bahamas.

According to the Miami Herald, the Malaysian company is to embark on a partnership with RAV Bahamas, the developer the resort, to open Resorts World Bimini Bay. The casino, which is expected to feature both live tables and slots, is estimated to cost $20m.

“Our shared vision to offer gaming entertainment, luxury amenities and world-class service will continue to attract many new visitors to the Bahamas’ gateway destination just minutes away from South Florida and other major US cities by air and sea,” Dana Leibovitz, president of Resorts World Bimini Bay said.

This new move further reinforces suggestions that Genting is keen to tap into the Florida market. The company has already spent millions of dollars securing land in Miami to develop a new resort complex, despite casino gaming being restricted to Tribal lands and parimutuel sites.
