The government of Fiji is now in the process of reviewing applications for the country's first casino.

The Pacific island first invited expressions of interest for the development and operation of a casino in October last year, stressing the need for the successful applicant to be of an international standing.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed to local media that the government is evaluating applicants on their track record of operating gaming facilities and said a key condition is the development of convention facilities.
