Two entertainment venues in New York, US, have pledged their support for Caesars’ bid for one of three downstate casino licences in the city.

Caesars Entertainment

Matt Goldman, executive director of The Town Hall, said Caesars Palace Times Square, backed by the casino operator, SL Green and Roc Nation, would provide a “vital opportunity to fuel the continued resurgence” of the area.

He added the casino would help drive additional commerce, increase ticket sales for live performances and “strengthen the entire ecosystem that supports our city’s world-renowned arts and culture sector."

The casino would also create “a powerful new tourism draw that will benefit theatres of all sizes,” according to Tsion Bensusan, chief operating officer of Sony Hall.

Caesars remains a frontrunner for a casino licence after Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts both dropped out of the race.

Caesars Palace Times Square and Roc Nation say they will sponsor live events at both entertainment venues throughout the year, while the venues will work with Caesars to support the live entertainment industry in and around Times Square.
