The Rank Group saw an increase in revenue and number of customers to its casinos in the first six months of the year.
The UK-based gaming company announced group revenue of £281.1m for the six months to June 30, up from £266m in the same period last year. The operator also reported an increase in adjusted profit before tax from £24.7m in the previous year to £25.1m in 2010.
The company saw an 11.9 per cent increase in customers to more than 2.5 million, with customer visits up 3.6 per cent to 11.3 million. Spend per visit also increased 1.5 per cent to £22.48. During the six-month period, customers to Grosvenor Casinos exceeded one million for the first time, while an additional three new G Casinos will open by the end of 2012.
“I am encouraged by the group’s performance during the first half of 2010,” said Ian Burke, chief executive of Rank. “All of our businesses have achieved growth in revenue as a result of increased numbers of customers and customer visits.
“We have engaged with our customers to identify the changes that we needed to make to our products and services; we have strengthened our senior management team in order to deliver performance change; and we have stepped up our capital investment to support the growth plans of the businesses.
“In spite of a challenging environment for consumer-facing businesses, the group has made sustained progress and enjoys a strong balance sheet.”
